Digital Nomad Visa in the Kyrgyz Republic: A Brief Guide
The Digital Nomad status is a special designation created to attract foreign professionals in IT and related high-tech industries. It offers flexible conditions for staying and working in Kyrgyzstan.
Who Can Apply?
1. Purpose of the Status:
- To attract foreign specialists and investments in IT and related high-tech sectors.
- To create a convenient mechanism for application submission and status assignment.
2. Eligibility:
- Foreign citizens from countries with visa-free or visa-required entry who work in IT, programming, e-sports, digital art, robotics, artificial intelligence, design, and related fields.
3. Application Procedure:
- Submit an electronic application via the “Electronic Visa” portal.
- Attach a passport, photo, employment contract or freelance agreements, proof of income (at least $5,000 per year), and professional documents.
- The status is initially granted for 60 days, then extended for 1 year with the possibility of annual renewal for up to 10 years.
- Application review takes up to 7 business days.
4. Rights of the Holder:
- Exemption from registration at the place of residence for up to 60 days.
- No work permit required.
- Ability to conduct individual entrepreneurial activities or be a participant/founder of a legal entity.
- Ability to open bank accounts without registration at the place of residence.
- Issuance of a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
5. Responsibilities:
- Engage in professional activities within the permitted fields.
- If necessary, obtain a Digital Nomad visa (type DN).
- Comply with laws and social insurance requirements.
- Timely renew the status and provide updated documents.
6. Revocation/Denial:
- Status may be revoked for rule violations, cessation of professional activity, or threats to national security.
- Upon revocation, the status is terminated, and the individual has 15 days to leave the country.
7. Family Members:
- Close relatives (spouse, children, dependents) may enter and stay in Kyrgyzstan.
- They can apply for a visa of type “FF” via the “Electronic Visa” portal.
